Minister of Public Works and Transport, Senior Minister Sun Chanthol, officially inaugurated the newly completed $1.2 million Kep International Port.
The inauguration ceremony was held on the morning of January 19, under the under the presidency of the Minister of Public Works and Transport, Senior Minister Sun Chanthol. Members of the provincial parliament were also present along with the Kep Governor, Som Piseth, and other government officials.
The new port can accommodate 3 large cruise ships and some small tourist boats and was built on the site of the old port. The new port has a total area of 3,470 square metres.
Senior Minister Chanthol highlighted the development and peace brought by the win-win policy. The Senior Minister stated that Cambodia has developed in all areas, especially in infrastructure.
Senior Minister Chanthol requested that management of the tourist port be done correctly. He also tasked authorities to ensure the safety of passengers by enforcing safety procedures be implemented and gathering information of the weather before ships travel.
